Three years ago, we at Twente Personeelsdiensten renewed our commitment to the active recruitment of international employees. What we did not foresee then is that in a short time, this would become one of our Unique Selling Points. Here is our story.
History
In the past, Twente Personeelsdiensten already supplied international staff to the region, mainly from East Germany and Poland. Through partnerships with recruitment and selection agencies, we brought these employees to the Netherlands, where they were employed by clients in the Twente region. Twente Personeelsdiensten arranged both accommodation and transport to work. Coincidentally, we recently met someone at a client whom we had successfully placed there almost 15 years ago. Now that's what you call a match!
Refocusing on international audience
Despite this history, the focus on international staff had faded somewhat, until we placed an assembler of Polish nationality with one of our clients. This compiler, now Head Intercedent Lukasz Cyran, had a background in recruitment and offered us CVs of international employees with a good command of the English language, who lived independently in the Twente region and the border area. This happened at a time when the labour market was at its peak, and many of our clients were open to employees who spoke English.
Fair treatment and a good name
Historically, international employees' ignorance of Dutch laws and regulations was often abused. We wanted to tackle this differently. At Twente Personeelsdiensten, everyone receives their wages on time, a fair salary according to the collective labour agreement, and no ET scheme if they are not entitled to one. This honesty and transparency quickly earned us a good reputation in the region, which made international employees eager to work for us.
Ukrainian employees
When war broke out in Ukraine and the Dutch government decided that Ukrainian refugees were allowed to work (and we also noticed that they wanted this), we actively sought contact with reception centres. This led to intakes and in a short time almost 10 per cent of our workforce was Ukrainian. Many spoke English and were later adopted by our clients. Vadim, one of our top employees, gave us the following review: "If you are looking for a job, trust the team of professionals from Twente. I have been cooperating with them for over a year and have never regretted it. Just try it and you will stay with them for a long time!"
Specialisation and language skills
In the years that followed, we further specialised in this target group. Our team was set up accordingly, with administrative staff who speak Polish, English and Dutch and intermediaries who are ready to help our employees every day. We even have a recruiter who speaks reasonable Romanian as well as Polish. With these five languages (Polish, Ukrainian, English, Romanian and Dutch), we can communicate excellently with almost all our employees.
For example, we have these vacancies for employees who speak English:
Production assistant Bakery | Twente Personeelsdiensten Wierden
And this vacancy is also for employees without language:
Forklift driver concrete | Twente Personeelsdiensten Wierden
Our promise
At Twente Personeelsdiensten, it does not matter where someone comes from. Because of our mix of clients, we know exactly where someone fits based on work experience, language proficiency and cultural preference. We always aim for the best match between employee and client and have positive experiences with employees from all over the world. We look for long-term work, where our employees can eventually be taken over by the client. Our motivated staff are happy to go to work for your organisation and our promise is that in Twente Personeelsdiensten they really have a good temporary employment agency. We are affiliated with the ABU (About the ABU - ABU) and are audited semi-annually to obtain our SNA seal of approval (The SNA hallmark | Stichting Normering Arbeid). Our staff really come first.
