Maintenance Employee Historic Gardens (24–40 hours)
About the estate
For a beautiful historic estate in the Enschede region, we are looking for an enthusiastic employee to maintain the historic gardens. The entire estate spans 70 hectares, of which 7 hectares are nature reserve and 15 hectares are agricultural land, including arable land and pastures. Additionally, a heathland with a fen and coniferous forests form part of this special estate.
The estate boasts a rich history and requires careful maintenance and a love for greenery, nature, and the landscape. Who wouldn't want to work here?

What are your duties?
As a historical gardens maintenance employee, you will largely work independently on the upkeep of the estate and the historical garden areas. No two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance of historic beds, borders, and old plantings
- Laying new plants and green facilities
- Maintenance of woods and natural sites, particularly during the winter period
- Working with an experienced tree surgeon for woodland management
- Managing and guiding people with a disability
- Preparing and setting up work for collaboration with Aveleijn, who will be working on-site twice a week.
- Combating pests such as box tree moth and potentially trapping moles
- Placing and maintaining pasture posts and fences
- General grounds maintenance
A robotic lawnmower is present, which takes a lot of mowing work out of your hands.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a passion for greenery, nature, and historical heritage. Someone who can work independently but is also strong socially in guiding others.
You:
- Has love for plants, trees and nature management
- Know how to maintain historic gardens and old planting.
- Can work independently and take responsibility
- Do you have experience with or an affinity for supporting people with a disability?
- To prepare and manage work activities well
- Preferably has experience with forest maintenance and land management
- Practical and likes to roll up their sleeves
- Has knowledge of, for example, box tree caterpillar control, mole trapping, or fencing work
- Available for 24 to 40 hours per week
