Dear followers, nice of you to take the time to read my story! For those who do not know me yet: I am Nicole Meijerink, mother of a wonderful son and a bonus daughter, and I have been living with my partner in Wierden for over 21 years. Besides my work, I love being on the tennis court - just being active and clearing my head. But what I am also a bit proud of is that I have been the owner of Twente Personeelsdiensten for 20 years!
My career started at a young age. At 16, I was in the salon as a hairdresser. Working four days a week and going to school one day - a tough rhythm, but through it I learned what hard work and discipline really mean. As a hairdresser, I also discovered the importance of listening carefully to people, understanding them and building a relationship of trust. These are skills that I have carried with me in my work and in my life ever since.
After a period as a receptionist at Makro, where I learned customer focus in practice, I made the switch to Timber Uitzendbureau. There I discovered my passion: connecting people and companies. Making the right match, which benefits everyone, gave me a lot of energy and satisfaction. The realisation that your work can really make a difference in the growth of people and companies became a driving force in my career.
In 2002, I took the plunge into entrepreneurship and founded Twente Personeelsdiensten. What started out small, grew into an organisation that today is hard to imagine the region without. Our services are broad: staffing, secondment, recruitment and selection, talent development, payroll processing and more. But what really sets us apart is our personal approach. We speak the same language as our clients and employees. We know the challenges of the region and understand what is going on. For us, it is not just about work, but above all about building long-term relationships and growing together.
The past 20 years have been a wonderful but sometimes challenging journey. So much has happened: multiple moves, highlights such as two openings on Friday the 13th (now my lucky number!) and constantly adapting to the changing job market. There were also moments when I had to rethink choices, but that's part of growing. What I learned is that growth is not a straight line. Sometimes you take big steps forward, sometimes you have to take a step back or a step forward. But if you keep learning and keep enjoying what you do, you will always get further.
Besides my work at Twente Personeelsdiensten, I have always tried to make a broader contribution. As an advisor at Werkplein Twente, I helped connect entrepreneurs and jobseekers. I also worked for the Municipality of Wierden for many years to promote sustainable outflow of welfare recipients to work.
After 23 years in the industry, I know one thing for sure: the power of people is everything. The job market is constantly changing, and we change with it. But one thing always remains the same: at Twente Personeelsdiensten we are all about commitment, strong relationships and sustainable solutions. The team I work with is indispensable in this. Without them - and without our clients and employees - none of this would have been possible.
I look back with pride at what we have achieved and confidently look forward to the future. Together, we will continue to build for growth and success. Because alone you are nothing, but together you make the difference.
